Midwest CareCenter Raises Millions, Receives Accolades
July, 2011 — When Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter approached Simple Truth in 2010 to design a "case for support" brochure, the goal was to raise funds for a new inpatient hospice pavilion and healing garden, not win awards. As it turns out, they were able to do both.
Simple Truth created Keeping Our Promise, an eye-catching 30-page fundraising brochure featuring renderings of the proposed eco-friendly facility as well as real-life stories from families of people who have been helped by the organization. The brochure was designed to reflect the vision of the new inpatient care setting — a homelike environment set amidst the Illinois prairie — and the holistic philosophy Midwest CareCenter has regarding patient care. The finished product helped the organization make significant progress toward their goal of $18 million and win several industry accolades — two gold ContentWise Magnum Opus Awards and recognition as a Stevie Award Finalist in the American Business Awards competition.
"We believe Keeping Our Promise has enhanced the ability of fundraising volunteers and staff to achieve our current success: $9.4 million pledged to date, which made it possible for us to break ground for our new hospice pavilion in May 2011,” said Kristin Gover, senior director of communications/PR for Midwest CareCenter. “Simple Truth really brought the program to life by telling the complete story about our commitment to walk beside our patients and their families wherever they are in their journey with illness and grief. “
